Recipe for Wellness

The obesity rate in children in the United States has tripled over the past 30 years, and their expected lifespan is now less than their parents! But there is hope. With some simple changes, we can all eat better and improve our health. September is Fruits & Veggies—More Matters Month, a campaign to help educate and inspire healthier eating choices. Two simple and easy-to-remember habits can make a huge difference:

• For each meal, fill half your plate with fruit and veggies.
• And fruit and vegetables in any form—fresh, frozen, smoothies, canned, and dried—count toward your daily intake, making them a convenient and delicious snack.

And you don’t need to overhaul your usual recipes. Instead, simply add a salad and a fruit dish to your regular go-tos. Simple changes make a big difference—take care of yourself and your family by adding fruit and vegetables your daily routine.
